Gaian Soul Practices for Hallowmas ~ Samhain ~ All Souls
A five-week online course with Joanna Powell Colbert
October 20 – November 22, 2013
All Hallow’s Eve. Hallowmas. Hallowe’en. Samhain. Dia de los Muertos. All Soul’s Day.
Whatever name we give this holy-day, and whatever cultures we draw upon in our celebrations, it all comes down to honoring our Beloved Dead, our ancestors, and the dark, fallow time of the year.
It is the season of the Old One, the Crone, the Cailleach, the Grandmother, the Elder.
The “Gaian Soul Practices for Hallowmas ~ Samhain ~ All Souls” course helps you make room in your daily life for mindful creative expression. You’ll align yourself with the rhythms of nature as you enter the dark, dreaming time, and honor your Beloved Dead. You’ll create the habit of reflective journal writing and art-making (including photography). You’ll learn to be present and alert to the deeper, hidden messages of the festival of Hallowmas. You’ll spend regular time with Mama Gaia, allowing Her to heal and nourish you, and you’ll cultivate your own self-expression through creative practices that lead to self-discovery, healing and wisdom.
The Hallowmas ecourse is one of eight seasonal ecourses, as we travel the Wheel of the Year, and I think it’s my favorite. I love contemplating the mysteries of the Crone and the Ancestors, and holding ceremony to honor the Beloved Dead.
I am a raving fan of Amulet! I would love to give away ONE place in the Hallowmas ecourse to an Amulet reader (a $127 value). I’m a huge fan of Joanna’s work. Having taken 2 of her season classes so far, I can say that they are so wonderful and are nourishment for the soul! Thank you for the chance to enter this give away 🙂
To win a spot in the Hallowmas e-course would be a blessing as it’s beyond my reach financially right now, but regardless, blessings to whoever does win! It will be such a special and heartfelt journey!
Joanna’s classes are amazing! I just finished her Harvest Home series. Thank you for giving us all a chance to enter to win a spot in her next course! Bright Blessings, Maggie
My connection to Joanna began with an introduction to the Gaian Tarot, which is now my deck of choice. I also recently took one of her courses for transitioning from Summer to Autumn. It was a total shift for me.i refocused my attention on what I love about the Autumn, and opened to receiving the opportunities of the darkness. I would love to take this course as well. However, my funds are committed to having my two new kitties spayed in November. In the past, I would have over extended my resources to participate. That has changed, too! I appreciate Joanna’s contribution to helping me connect to Mama Earth.
This sounds like an amazing class. I’ve felt so drawn to nature lately…I crave its contact and have been so creatively inspired by its gifts. This sounds like the perfect way to dig deeper into a creative practice that will help make this connection even stronger. Thanks so much for the opportunity!
I recently was able to visit my parents and grandparents grave sites. I live in another state from their burial sites. At this time of year I am being pulled by the spirits of my ancestors and would love the chance to take this course.
Samhain — what a perfect time to do some important soul work as well as to really look and appreciate the singular beauty of autumn. Autumn has always been my favorite season — perhaps my soul has been yearning for a bit more connection with Mama Gaia and with the sacred time of Samhain.
Have read the blog for a long time and made many Spirit dolls, previously shared. Am always grateful for the opportunity to fit more spirit into my day’s space.
Thank you Amulet and Joanna for this wonderful opportunity. I am a huge fan of all of Joanna’s work! I have always wanted to take one of her classes, but have never been able to do so. Samhain is my favorite holiday, and I would love to have a chance to immerse myself in the rituals of the season. I am trying to practice mindfulness and slowing down, and I think this class would help me in that quest! Thank you again!
Would just love the opportunity to participate! Thank you so much for making this possible for someone who may not otherwise be able to attend! Yay for Amulet and for Joanna!!! Blessings in abundance to all~
Thank you for this opportunity to enjoy this magical season through Joanna’s creative talents and inspiration! And so my winning post goes out into cyber space … so mote it be!
I would love the opportunity to nourish my spiritual path by participating in such a wonderful community experience. I have been more present with this season than any other season before in my life. This would be an awesome way to transition through to the next season, which I hope to honor as deeply. Thanks to Amulet I can continue this celebration, and thank you for offering such an awesome opportunity to us. 🙂
I just love Joanna! Her Gaian Tarot is my absolute favorite deck. I’ve wanted to take her course for years, but just can’t afford it.
Being the sole earner in my 4 person household, I often find myself overwhelmed. I am focusing so much of my energy on being constantly worried about money, instead of focusing on things that really matter. I find myself slipping into a terrible pattern of neglecting myself, my art, and my loved ones because of this lost energy. I need some healing, and I feel like this course could be exactly what I need. Being far from my father’s gravesite, I often feel worlds away. I know I need that connection again. Thank you for this opportunity! May the universe guide this free course to the person who needs it most, even if that’s not me. 🙂
OOHH OOHH pick me pick me!!!! please 🙂
I started studying Tarot the year after my mother died. One day I came across the most beautiful image – it was the Death card but instead of the usual spectral skeleton figure there was a haunting and beautiful ocean scene depicting a dead heron on an old wood boat. It spoke to me of the natural order of life and death, and I needed to learn who the artist was . . . and of course it was Joanna. I followed the development of the Gaian Tarot deck with great interest, learned and grew through Joanna’s beautiful and generous writing and sharing about her life, her spiritual growth, the inherent ups and downs of being an artist. The Gaian Tarot is such a positive and empowering deck and has been a blessing to me and the people I read for. My mother died on Oct. 20th – it would feel like I was coming full circle to be able to take part in Joanna’s Gaian Soul Practices for Hallowmas ~ Samhain ~ All Souls ecourse. And once again, Joanna shows me the way, leading me to Amulet Magazine!
I’ve just emerged from the most emotionally and spiritually challenging years. I had moments when I couldn’t bear being in my own skin, when the grief was so big I thought it would bring me so far under that I wouldn’t be able to lift my eyes up again to see the light of my soul. I desire to participate in Hallowmas so that I can make a ritual of this past year – to release and put to rest a huge loss – and to do so lovingly with the support of a structured program and like-spirited souls.
My low-tech raffle: I wrote all the names down on slips of paper, shuffled them up like a tarot deck, reached into the basket to pick one out, and picked 2! So the lucky ones are: Marilee Wertlake and Jennifer Lucero-Earle. You’ll be hearing from us soon. Thank you Danielle and MaryBeth for providing the space for this raffle!
